The museum contains a large selection of items from the former ‘Orlogsmuseet’ (Naval Museum). The history of the Danish Navy from the start of the 16th century to the present day is told through ship models and other miniatures, as well as large tableaus of iconic naval battles from Denmark’s history.

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is building a healthy future for Lake Champlain. We connect people to our region’s history, ecology, and archaeology and create opportunities for hands-on learning that will last a lifetime. Through our work in water, on water, and underwater we inspire a new generation of leaders to shape the future for themselves and their communities.
The museum has a replica 1862 sailing canal boat Lois McClure and a replica of the Revolutionary War Gunboat Philadelphia II.
Lightship 101 (LV-101/WAL-524)

Lightship 101 was built in 1915 and served for 48 years off the coasts of Virginia, Delaware and Massachusetts. Although she was never stationed there, she has taken on the city’s name after being donated to the city of Portsmouth, Virginia in 1964.

Lois McClure

The schooner Lois McClure is the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s full-scale replica of an 1862-class sailing canal boat, based closely on two shipwrecks located in Burlington Harbor. Each season, the Lois tours regional waterways, welcoming the public aboard to experience local history in a modern context.
