A large and unique collection of builders’ models of local craft show the plans used to build a new ship from the model itself. Closed until further notice for maintenance.
Named after a local boat builder, the museum is dedicated to the craftsmen and culture of the traditional Eastern Shore wooden boat building industry. There is a unique collection of boat models: skipjacks, bugeyes, pungys, log canoes, rams & other vessels used over the years.
In addition to maritime history exhibits, the museum collection includes the bugeye Wm. B. Tennison (converted to power c. 1908), the skipjack Dee of St. Mary’s, and a number of smaller craft.
The museum has a wide variety of pictures, paintings, models, artifacts, and rare historical documents. More than 99% of all WW II submarine combat war patrol reports are housed here, as well as files on nearly every submarine ever in the service of the United States.
