The Addison Gallery of American Art has a collection of 25 models currated to document four centuries of American history. All of the models are at a scale of 1/4″ to a foot. The collection is permanently installed on their lower level.

The museum is centered on the wreck of the Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas (Our Lady of Wonders) which sank in the Bahama Banks in 1656, and the artifacts retrieved from it.

Arabia was a riverboat sunk by a submerged tree snag just outside of Kansas City. The 150 passengers Made it off the boat safely, but 200 tons of cargo were lost. These artifacts are now on display.

The Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum honors and preserves the history of Virginia’s coastal communities and maritime heritage. The scope of the Museum’s exhibits begins with the Virginia Beach Community and extends to subjects related to Virginia’s oceanfront, coastal and water-related heritage.

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is building a healthy future for Lake Champlain. We connect people to our region’s history, ecology, and archaeology and create opportunities for hands-on learning that will last a lifetime. Through our work in water, on water, and underwater we inspire a new generation of leaders to shape the future for themselves and their communities.

The museum has a replica 1862 sailing canal boat Lois McClure and a replica of the Revolutionary War Gunboat Philadelphia II.

Exhibits in 4 buildings with more than 30 rooms highlight the rich fishing and shipping tradition of Marstal on the island of Ærø. There are over 200 ship models, several hundred paintings, including Denmark’s largest collection of marine and Greenland [glossary_exclude]painter[/glossary_exclude] Carl Rasmussen’s works.

The museum boasts over sixty significant boats, ranging from the 8 1/2′ dinghy Nathanael to the 75′ Defiant, built in 1992 for the successful defense of the America’s Cup. The model room contains 500 models reflecting the work of Nathanael Herreshoff.

The museum explores the maritime and island history of Bermuda though artifacts, models, plans and maps, photographs and artwork, and a collection of small watercraft.
