Sub Chaser, SC-1075

by Gene Berger

About the vessel

This ship was one of 438 built on the same plan. These wooden-hulled ships were produced primarily for the United States Navy during the Second World War.

Despite the large number, none are credited with destroying an enemy ship.

During the war, 142 were lent to allies of the United States as part of the Lend-Lease program. Three sent to Norway served with distinction on the Shetland bus service, running agents, refugees and weapons past the German blockade between occupied Norway and Britain.

About the Model

The model started with an old and damaged Staubitz fiberglass hull. The hull was extensively modified, and the rest of the model scratch-built. Thus, it is listed as a scratch-build model.
