About the Vessel
Philadelphia was sunk by British fire during the Battle of Lake Champlain on October 11, 1776m and she was raised in 1935, preserved, and put on display at the Smithsonian Instutuion. This model was scratch-built of balsa wood and birch, with some purchased fittings. The model and its constuction were featured in the Time-Life Books Family Creative Workshop series in 1975.
