About the Vessel
Peapods were originally working boats native to the Northeatern United States, used for fishing, lobstering, and general utility. They remain popular for recreational rowing and sailing.
Peapods are all double-ended, but can be either lapstrake or carvel built. Lapstrake boats are lighter and more appropriate for beaching. Other design factors vary based on whether the boat is primarily meant to be rowed or sailed. Boats with rocker are easier to turn when rowing, and boats meant to be sailed might have a deeper keel. Those intended to be beached would have a wider keel and/or a metal wear strip.
