Flying Cloud, the most famous of the clippers built by Donald McKay, set the world’s sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco. The trip took 89 days and 8 hours. a record that held for over 130 years, from 1854 to 1989.

The schooner Benjamin W. Latham was a fishing schooner designed by Thomas F. McManus and built by Tarr & James shipyard at Essex, Massachusetts, in 1902.

During the Third Anglo-Dutch War, Prince served as a flagship of the Lord High Admiral the Duke of York (later James II & VII.) During the Battle of Solebay (1672) she was in the center of the English fleet that was attacked by the Dutch center led by Admiral Michiel de Ruyter.

Pegasus was a Swan-class sloop-of-war launched in 1776. She was lost with all hands during a storm off Newfoundland in October 1777.

This is the yacht that won the race which came to be known as the “America’s Cup”
