About the Vessel
Botters were fishing boats designed to sail the shallow Dutch waters. The ships had flat bottoms and angular bilges that turned into rounded sides. Botters were fitted with a live well for storing the catch. Water could flow in and out of the well, so that the fish would be alive and fresh for market.
